Dr. Heather Eastman-Mueller comes from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, and served as the Curriculum Coordinator for the sexual health program and Director of Research at the MU Student Health Center for the past 10 years. As a part of her position she taught a course investigating the socio-cultural aspects of human sexuality and effective strategies in peer education in the Women’s and Gender Studies Department.
Her notable accomplishments include developing a curriculum-based peer education and advocacy program, co-founding a sexual health safety products initiative placing internal/external condoms and oral dams in the residence halls and coordinating a regular, free STI (sexually transmitted infection) testing program for students. Heather has been hired as a faculty member in the Department of Applied Health Science with a dual role with the Center for Sexual Health Promotion and the IU Health Center. She looks forward to advancing the existing excellent sexual health education, research and services and creating a sex positive culture change on the Indiana University campus community. In combination with the existing research, education and outreach activities of the Center for Sexual Health Promotion, Heather's addition strategically positions Indiana University as a key leader in sexual health promotion both locally and globally.
